J&G Steakhouse: A Top-Floor Delight

Located on the top floor of the Phoenician building, J&G Steakhouse offers not just exceptional food but also breathtaking views. Known for its high ratings on TripAdvisor, this restaurant is a must-visit for steak lovers.

We didn’t have a reservation, but luckily, the wait was only about 20 minutes. During this time, we enjoyed drinks at their bar, which has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. If you’re planning to visit, it’s worth checking their website in advance for any special tasting menus or courses they might be offering.

The Ambiance: The restaurant was larger than we expected, and the staff greeted us warmly, making us feel right at home.

The Drinks: Cocktails here are on the pricier side, averaging $22 each. We tried a lavender-infused cocktail that was quite unique—floral and slightly sweet, with a light, airy texture from the egg white. It was a refreshing start to our meal.

The Food: We opted for the grass-fed boneless ribeye, which was less expensive than the prime bone-in option but still packed with flavor. The steak was seasoned simply with salt and pepper, allowing the natural flavors of the meat to shine through. It was perfectly cooked to medium-rare, tender, and juicy. We also ordered a halibut dish, served with a generous portion of miso-glazed mushrooms, which provided a nice balance to the richness of the steak.

The meal began with the cutest little bread rolls, reminiscent of Hawaiian rolls in texture—soft, slightly sweet, and served with a delightful butter. The butter wasn’t overly salty, complementing the bread perfectly.

Phoenician Tavern: Casual Dining with a View

Due to the closure of Mowry & Cotton for renovations, we had our breakfast at The Phoenician Tavern, where they served Mowry & Cotton’s menu items. The tavern, located next to the golf course, offers a laid-back atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal after a round of golf.

The Setting: The restaurant is spacious, with a separate bar area where you can enjoy drinks while watching sports. The dining area offers views of the golf course, adding a serene backdrop to your meal.

The Menu: Prices at The Phoenician Tavern are on the higher side, with items like avocado toast priced at $22. Despite our initial hesitation, we decided to try it, and we were pleasantly surprised. The portion was generous, and the dish was unique, featuring lemon ricotta that added a tangy twist to the classic avocado toast. The bread was a bit tough, but the overall flavor was enjoyable.

We also tried the BLT, which came with a brioche bun, egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The combination was delicious, making the sandwich feel more like a gourmet burger than a traditional BLT.

Final Thoughts: While the prices at The Phoenician Tavern might be steep, the quality of the food justifies the cost, especially if you have credits or discounts available.

Conclusion

Overall, our dining experiences at The Phoenician Resort were delightful. J&G Steakhouse stood out with its superb steak and elegant atmosphere, while The Phoenician Tavern offered a more relaxed setting with equally satisfying dishes. If you find yourself at this luxurious resort, be sure to check out these dining spots—you won’t be disappointed!
