Dress Code and Dining Logistics

First, let’s talk dress code. Make sure to check the resort’s website for dress code details and bring the appropriate attire. We dined at venues with a Casual Elegance dress code, so Vinnie made sure to pack long pants. No reservations are required; it’s first come, first served. Prioritize the restaurants you want to visit to avoid long lines.

Dress Code details from the Hyatt Website: here

Blue Water Grill

Our first stop was the Blue Water Grill for some steak. We heard great things about this place, so we arrived 10 minutes before opening and got seated early. By 7 PM, the restaurant was full, so be sure to get in line early.

The menu offered a wide selection of appetizers, soups, and salads. We ordered the catch of the day, steak, and several sides. For drinks, we tried a Cosmopolitan, but it was watery and had a sharp alcohol taste—definitely not recommended.

The appetizers and soups were a hit, especially the habanero soup and mushroom soup. The bread was good, though the butter was plain. The side dishes were just okay; you’re not missing much if you skip them. The catch of the day was tasty but a bit too salty. Unfortunately, the steak was a big disappointment. Despite ordering it medium rare, it was tough and hard to chew. We couldn’t finish half of it and had to move on to another restaurant.

Dragons Restaurant

After the steakhouse, we headed to Dragons, which serves East Asian cuisine. We didn’t have high expectations, especially for the sushi, and we were right. The sushi wasn’t great, but Vinnie enjoyed the Mongolian beef. Given that it’s an all-inclusive resort, we didn’t expect top-tier quality, but it didn’t feel like five-star resort food either.

Market Cafe

For breakfast, we visited the Market Cafe, which offers a buffet. The breakfast area is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. They have an omelet station and make smoothies and juices to order, which was pretty cool. The bakery section had plenty of options, from cinnamon rolls to pudding buns. There were also various cereals, meats, smoked salmon, yogurts, and hot dishes like beef stew, lasagna, hash browns, eggs, and bacon. Some of the food didn’t look very appetizing, but there were a few standouts like the eggs and bacon.

Italian Cuisine

On our next night, we tried the Italian restaurant. The risotto was a highlight—absolutely amazing and a must-try. The other dishes we sampled were also very good, and the service was better than at the steakhouse. If you have to choose between the two, we highly recommend the Italian place.

In-Room Dining

Being in an all-inclusive hotel, we had to try the in-room dining. We ordered three dishes, and while they didn’t look very appetizing, they tasted great. The nachos and jumbo hot dog were particularly good. Breakfast in the room was decent, and the view made it even better. We placed our breakfast order the night before, and it arrived on time, which was a nice touch.

Conclusion: Is the Food Worth It?

So, is the food at Secrets The Vine Cancun by Hyatt worth it? It’s a mixed bag. Some places, like the Italian restaurant, were excellent, while others, like the steakhouse, were disappointing. It might have been an off night for the steakhouse, but our experience wasn’t great. Overall, we found some hits and misses.
