Flying ANA for the First Time
We had heard great things about ANA, and finally, it was our turn to experience it. As excited as we were, we had one minor disappointment from the start — no Pokémon-themed plane! We had our hopes up, but alas, maybe next time. However, that didn’t dampen our excitement for flying business class on a renowned Japanese airline.
Access to United Polaris Lounge
One of the perks of flying ANA business class is access to the United Polaris Lounge at SFO. Checking in was a breeze, and soon, we were inside the spacious lounge, which has both a buffet and a dining room. Pro tip: If you want to dine in the lounge’s dining room, make sure to sign up as soon as you arrive, as it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. We waited about 45 minutes, but the food and drinks were definitely worth it.
The lounge highlights:
- A variety of food options between the buffet and dining room.
- Cozy seating with a calm ambiance.
- A must-visit before your long-haul flight!
Business Class Experience: ANA’s “The Room”
Our flight from San Francisco to Narita was roughly 10 hours long, but the comfort of ANA’s business class cabin, aptly named “The Room,” made time fly by (pun intended). We were seated in ANA’s newer business class seats, which had a unique layout where passengers face away from the window, allowing for more privacy.
What stood out in ANA’s business class:
- The seat design: Spacious, flat-bed seats that made the 10-hour journey comfortable.
- Service: Friendly and attentive crew who made us feel right at home.
- In-flight dining: A delicious selection of Japanese and international cuisine that made it hard to choose.
Food Review
The Japanese Cuisine Experience
ANA’s Japanese meal was a delightful journey of flavors. From savory miso soup to delicately seasoned fish and rice, each dish was thoughtfully prepared. The freshness and authenticity of the ingredients transported us straight to Japan, even before we landed.
The International Cuisine Experience
If Japanese cuisine isn’t your thing, ANA also offers a wide range of international dishes. The meal we chose was equally impressive, with gourmet-style offerings that included beautifully prepared meats, fresh vegetables, and decadent desserts.
Our Final Thoughts on ANA “The Room” Dining
Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with the food and beverage offerings aboard ANA’s “The Room” flight. The attention to detail, quality ingredients, and variety made the long-haul flight much more enjoyable. Whether you’re a fan of traditional Japanese dishes or prefer more familiar international fare, ANA has you covered.
Overall Impressions
Though we missed the Pokémon plane, our first experience flying with ANA in business class was fantastic. The comfortable seating, excellent service, and tasty in-flight meals made it a memorable trip. Whether you’re a frequent flyer or planning your first long-haul flight to Japan, ANA’s business class is worth the upgrade.
Would we fly ANA business class again? Absolutely! We hope to try it again soon (maybe with a Pokémon plane next time!).
